Finally… Some Action

Wow, we made it through.  We managed to find two drivers after a month and a half of being short, and turning down a whole whack of work.  Just in time for the summer slow down to hit.  Ironic.

Now, we are going to overhire.  This is concerning me, because I like to play things safe.    This means, I now have to get more work into our network to keep all of them busy, and not sitting on the side of the road.

In our experience, we typically go through a couple of drivers, before someone decides to stay with our company for a while.  This is typical.  Most think delivering packages, is just that simple.  What do you do? Deliver packages.

Oh, only if it is that simple.  They forget the Vancouver road system is a nightmare to navigate through, customers are rude, and oh yea, throw in about 40 deadlines you have to meet during the day, and if you miss one, it is usually the customer who cries the loudest.

Those who stay, love the challenge, the daily variety, and meeting a whole whack of new and interesting people.  I love these people, because they shock the hell out of you once in a while by going out of their way to satisify a customer, or not whine about how their work volume doubled over night.

My work is now cut-out for me now.  Time to dive into cold contacts & contracts.  It has been a few months since I went out in the search for new customers, I will soon pick-it up again.  I am not worried, finding work is never a problem for us.  We always pick up more work when we need it.

Need a courier? Call me! :)

Yawn! Nothing Much.

My goal is to write something here everyday, but what if I don’t have anything to write about?

Sure, I have rants, but is it really productive to post them where people can actually see them?  If I rant that I hate my best friends boyfriend, and she/he see’s it here, would that do me any good?

Sure, I am the gossip queen.  Sometimes, information is just too good to keep inside, and it just bubbles out of my mouth on it’s own (I swear, it’s not my fault!), but I think I am pretty good keeping it to myself.  Have you seen me yet post anything about anyone on here?  Nope, whistle dogs and roses, that’s it.

I am off the coast this weekend, and I am looking forward to it, rain or not.  I am thinking the sun is going to be out, so I can walk along the beach and go hiking and stay dry.  I love it there, and have joked around that I might never return one day.    I know, consumerism has taken it’s hold on such a sleepy little town.  Things like a Starbucks Frap that I am addicted to, I can no longer go without when I am there.  I like to think they provide a positive impact on the community by providing stable jobs, but I don’t like change.

So I will be gone for a couple days and won’t be able to update this new obsession of mine.
